Product Description

Feathery flower spikes in a pretty lavender hue brighten summer shade gardens. Growing 24-36" tall, Astilbe Amethyst adds wonderful color, texture and movement to perennial borders, bed plantings and containers. Astilbe Amethyst blooms in early to midsummer, and its feathery plumes are showy in the garden and a vase. Lacy, deep green or bronze-green foliage adds texture to the garden throughout the season. It grows best when planted in rich, moist soil and in shade to partial shade. For maximum impact, plant in groups of 5 or more. Deer tend to avoid.
Astilbe arendsii 'Amethyst' produce the characteristic feathery plumes of the False Spirea, but with blossoms of a most noticeable and remarkable amethyst color. This full-leafed variety makes a beautiful backdrop for your shorter or more sparsely foliaged plants.

Astilbe Companion Plants: Ferns, Helleborus, Hosta

Astilbe Plant Care Instructions: Ensure your plants remain consistently hydrated, as allowing them to dry out can be detrimental. The faded flowers may be pruned to encourage further blooming, or left intact to add enduring visual interest to your garden. Come early winter, consider trimming back the foliage to a modest 2 inches above the ground to promote healthy, vibrant growth in the forthcoming spring season.
