Product Description

Very floriferous, Campanula medium 'Champion Pink' (Canterbury Bells) is an upright biennial with a profusion of large, broadly bell-shaped, pink flowers, 2 in.  wide (5 cm).  Blooming from late spring to mid-summer, the flowers are borne atop long leafy stems above a basal rosette of lance-shaped, dark green leaves.  Excellent source of nectar or pollen, they attract honey bees and butterflies.  Old-fashioned but lovely, Canterbury Bells are well-suited to perennial borders and cottage gardens.

  • Grows in sturdy clumps, up to 20-26 in.  tall (50-65 cm) and 12-18 in.  wide (30-45 cm).
  • Thrives in full sun or part shade, in fertile, moist, well-drained soils.  This plant tolerates a wide range of soil types if well-drained
  • Ideal for beds, borders, underplanting shrubs or roses, cottage gardens, or containers.  Plant in groups for the best visual impact.
  • Easy to grow, this low-care perennial is also deer and rabbit-resistant and adored by hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees.
  • Watch for snails and slugs, powdery mildew, and rust diseases.
  • Do not cut back after flowering if self-seeding is desired.  However, removing the spent flower spikes may encourage a second flush of flowers.
  • Easily divided in spring or fall.
  • Propagate by seed.  Surface sow seeds from late spring to early summer.  In milder areas sow directly in the fall

Growing at a glance…

Dig a hole in the border that’s big enough to house the entire module. If planting in pots, fill a large pot halfway with potting soil and then make several holes that can hold the modules. Campanulas can be grown in any soil type. Position somewhere sunny, or perhaps with dappled shade. Plant outdoors from May to June to see them appear throughout summer.
