Bred by one of the most highly respected Hydrangea breeders, and a worthy winner of the coveted Chelsea Flower Show Plant of the Year 2014 award! Hydrangea macrophylla 'Miss Saori' is quite unique. Each fully double, white bloom is frosted with a soft rose edge, giving the large rounded flower heads a delicate, frothy appearance. This is the first of a new breed of Hydrangeas that will remain the same colour regardless of your soil type, so you are guaranteed to see these beautiful blooms at their best.

The foliage complements the blooms perfectly, taking on an attractive burgundy hue in spring and autumn that only adds to the appeal of this stunning mophead hydrangea. An exquisite specimen shrub for borders and patio containers where it will give a long season of interest. Hydrangea 'Miss Saori' makes a lovely cut flower too. Height and spread: 100cm (39").

  • This deciduous shrub has a round, bushy habit, typically growing up to 36-40 in.  tall and wide (90-100 cm).
    A full sun to part shade lover, it is best grown in rich, medium moisture, well-drained soils.  Tolerant of sun if the soil remains moist.
  • No serious pest or disease issues.  Watch for aphids, capsid bug, hydrangea scale and vine weevil.
  • Perfect from foundation plantings to container plantings.  Massed in a sheltered location or as an accent plant.
  • Spent flowers should be regularly deadheaded.
  • This beautiful deciduous shrub should be pruned after flowering by cutting back the stems to a pair of healthy buds.  Prune out weak or winter-damaged stems in early spring.
  • Hydrangea macrophylla species is native to Japan.  It is reported from seaside habitats as well as mountains in
  • Japan, from Honshu southwards.  This species has naturalized in China, New Zealand and the Americas.
  • May cause mild stomach upset if ingested, contact with foliage may aggravate skin allergies.  Wear gloves and other protective equipment when handling.

Plant Advice: Hydrangea should be planted in moist, well-drained soil and kept in full sun at the best of times. If kept in full sunlight, watering should be done so that the soil is never dry to touch. However, if placed in dappled shade, regular watering should only take place in the first few weeks as it establishes itself.
