OTHER: Orchid Primrose are a unique & beautiful flower for the shade garden, wowing with showy spikes of red that bloom in bright pinkish purple from the base upwards to the tip. They grow well in full to part shade, & can also grow in full sun in areas with cooler summers. The Orchid Primrose can grow well in average to moist soil conditions, so is excellent for everything from borders to containers or rock gardens, & edging ponds or other water features. The plants are deer & rabbit resistant, so are a good choice for woodland areas. A winner of a Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit, Orchid Primrose are able to survive temperatures as low as -30F, will add some tropical feels & colors to far north gardens with their lovely bicolor blooms.
Primula vialii looks just like a miniature red-hot poker, with slender stems bearing vibrant crimson flower spikes that open from the base up into lilac flowers in a fabulous two-toned effect. This shade-loving perennial is perfect for waterside planting.
